Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information GearCheck ("we", "us") collects when you use https://gear-check.crushjs.com, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Camera, microphone and other devices

Our tests run entirely in your web browser. When you start the microphone or webcam test, your browser asks for your permission. If you allow it, the audio and video are processed on your device only — to draw the level meter, show the preview or play back a test recording — and are never uploaded to or stored on our servers. Test recordings and snapshots exist only in your browser's memory until you close or reload the page, unless you choose to download them. Access to the camera or microphone ends when you press Stop or leave the page, and you can withdraw permission at any time in your browser's site settings.

The same applies to keyboard, mouse, controller, touch and screen tests: key presses, clicks, controller input and screen details are read by the page to show you the results and are not sent anywhere. Some tests save small preferences or best scores (for example your best CPS score) in your browser's local storage; you can delete them by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Advertising on the site has no access to your camera, microphone or test input.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, referring page and the time of your visit. This is used to keep the site secure and working and to understand overall usage. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to count page views.

Cookies and advertising

We use Google AdSense to show advertising, which helps keep our tools free.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, through a Google-certified consent management platform. You can change your choices at any time using the privacy settings link shown on the site.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not stop any of our tools from working.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to or limit certain processing. Because our tests do not collect audio, video or test input, we hold very little personal data. To make a request, contact us at info@crushjs.com.

Children

Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Links to other sites

Our pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
